It takes a lot of work to keep the dozens of lakes here in the Avenir community looking their best, and that is the job of Superior Waterway Services. In this issue, we chat with Chris York, owner of Superior, who has done this type of work not only in Avenir, but in residential communities across South Florida. In this fascinating feature article, you’ll learn all that it takes to keep the lakes looking their best.
Next, we visit the Dancing Crane Restaurant, located in the Sandhill Crane Golf Club. Featuring great food with amazing golf course views, the Dancing Crane is operated by noted restaurateur Avi Sekerel. The restaurant features comfort food perfect for a bite after a round on the course, but also an expansive dinner menu and a delicious weekend brunch.
Profiled this issue is Avenir resident Charlie Nugent, founder of Pure Way Filtration. When Nugent couldn’t find a water filtration system for his home that he liked, he went ahead and started his own company. While the business now takes up much of his time, he is always there to help out Avenir friends.
Finally, we visit the venerable Norton Museum of Art, one of the true gems of the Palm Beaches. The Norton has been the home of amazing art for the past 85 years, including an array of current exhibits.
Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to read and enjoy our work here at Avenir The Magazine. We will be back soon with our July/August edition featuring more fascinating Avenir stories.

Sunbeams reflect off ripples in a pristine lake. A heron slowly wades into the shallows. Illuminated fountains quietly bubble, providing a perfect backdrop for a late-day stroll. Sights like these are commonplace in Avenir, but many don’t realize the care that goes into it all. The stewardship of more than 50 lakes in Avenir is the job of Superior Waterway Services Inc.
Inside the Dancing Crane restaurant, you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff serving everything from comfort food to a delicious ribeye steak. Restaurateur and owner Avi Sekerel has been serving up tasty dishes to the Palm Beach Gardens community and beyond since 2019 from his location in the Sandhill Crane Golf Club.
Pure Way Filtration, a national water filtration company, got its start in Avenir. Charlie Nugent founded Pure Way two years ago, and it has quickly spread across the country. An experienced businessman, Nugent had previously been a part of building two other companies before he created Pure Way.
This year, the Norton Museum of Art celebrated its 85th anniversary, and it recently hosted “Art and Life in Rembrandt’s Time: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection,” a critically acclaimed exhibition that drew more than 100,000 visitors and received international news coverage. But rather than looking back, the Norton is looking ahead.
